Mr. Ramprasad Varanasi
Born on June 30, 1946, to illustrious parents who were in the field of education, I grew up alone, having lost my brother, when I was in my 5th Grade of my schooling. My place of birth was Madanapally, now in the District of Andhra Pradesh but then in the Madras Province.
My father Sri V R Shastri devoted his life to teaching in the famous Rishi valley High School and retired from there when I was in my School final. My mother Srimathi Parvathi Ramanadha Sastry also devoted her life to teaching in Govt. Girls High School and my life’s journey moved me to Tamil Nadu where I completed my Graduation, in Life Sciences, from Voorhees College, Vellore.
My journey….
My father Sri V R Shastri devoted his life to teaching in the famous Rishi valley High School and retired from there when I was in my School final. My mother Srimathi Parvathi Ramanadha Sastry also devoted her life to teaching in Govt. Girls High School and my life’s journey moved me to Tamil Nadu where I completed my Graduation, in Life Sciences, from Voorhees College, Vellore. At that time, the second loss in my life struck me. I lost me dear mother. Started living with my dad who was caring for me and I running around in search of livelihood. And later while I was working for Glaxo (now known as GSK) I took my Diploma in Business management.
Being alone and growing up alone as the only son was very painful. It is not a prince’s life and you feel the absence of a companion. I had to compensate by being in close contact with my friends. The time that taught me to be in control of myself and my surroundings.
My Personality
I have an outgoing Personality who mingle with people easily, make friends comfortably and know where to draw my line. I developed Leadership Qualities by participating in the N C C (National Cadet Corps), where I was the 10th Madras Battalion Senior U/O and was a merited officer. I took part in all social activities and was popular. Took part in many extracurricular activities, like Debates, dramas, and elocution contests. I have always worked for the welfare of my fellow men.
My Career
I began my career as a School Teacher in a District Board high school which I used to cycle up a mountainous region for 15 km or take a bus to reach before I started living there with my father. I was able to organize the school in building activities like organizing science exhibition and first school picnic.
From this level, I jumped to the Indian Pharmaceutical Industry which became my stepping stone to success. Started my career as a Medical Representative, I grew to the level of Vice President Marketing. As a result, I understood the nuances of the industry where I grew up and made my mark well. Some of the companies I have worked are now in the top 15 companies in the industry. I gained experience in both National and Multinational companies. Wherever I worked, I built a strong team which always stood as no one at the Pan India level. Under my leadership, I ensured that the State reaches no 1 rank in ORG or I ensured to double the rank in the given time in difficult major Cities like Mumbai.
During the early part of my life, I was also taking part in the cause of the Pharma front line workers and for a couple of years the President of their Union. This helped me to understand the difficulties of a front-line worker in the Pharmaceutical Industry and was in the forefront of helping them to resolve conflicts but also guide them to be more productive. I worked for a total of 30 years in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
My family
During my early ears of work, I chose my life partner as suggested by my father when I was 23. We are not only proud parents of three sons but also grandparents of 6 grandsons.
For me when I realize that in the earlier day’s of my life, I used to roam 21 days in a month, earning a sum that people will not believe these days that I could support my family, the fact that our 3 sons are now well settled leading their organizations of repute and lading them at Global levels show that we were BLESSED by our parents and In-laws and our struggles taught us the knack of overcoming obstacles and bringing up our family well. We are proud grandparents of 6 grand sons who are all studious, sharp and smart.
My Experience
Indian Pharmaceutical Industry– Three decades
Hospital Industry: Web building for alternative medicines, and building web site for Health Care Domains.(Content management and administration)
Consulting and Training Experience: Two decades plus as the President and CEO of my own firm Smart Trainers and Consultants ( a Registered firm at Hyderabad, India in 2007)
Pharmaceuticals
Helped to launch THREE Pharma companies in Hyderabad where in 2 companies I worked as a Vice President Marketing. Was the first to expand the market of Co enzyme Q 10 at Hyderabad and focused attention to launch Quinoa as a food supplement to be prescribed by Doctors in 2 states in Southern India. Helped to create Product Brochures and Marketing aids in Allopathy, Herbal formulations and even Homeo and Ayurvedic companies.
